Reception for former Indian Consul General Preeti Saran

TORONTO: The IndoCanada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) and the Indian Consulate General here jointly hosted a reception for Preeti Saran, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, on her visit to Canada on July 10.

Preeti, who served as India’s consul general in Toronto for five years from 2008 onwards before she was appointed India’s ambassador to Vietnam, was accompanied by Munu Mahawar, Joint Secretary (Americas Division) in the Ministry of External Affairs.

Welcoming Preeti Saran, Indian Consul General Dinesh Bhatia said the Indian government is committed to strengthening bilateral economic ties with Canada.

ICCC board members – Devika Penekelapati, Pappur Shankar, Kanwar Dhanjal, and Abu Becker – were present at the reception along with some past presidents, advisory board members and members of the ICCC.

ICCC president Arun Srivastava welcomed the guests and said the chamber is working very closely with the Indian Consulate General to promote Canada-India ties.
