NewsAlert: Drake wins best rap song Grammy award for ‘God’s Plan’
Drake picked up his fourth career Grammy for “God’s Plan” in the best rap song category.
The Toronto rapper used his acceptance speech to lambast the Grammy Awards.
The hitmaker, born Aubrey Graham, told the audience this was “the first time in Grammy history where I actually am who I thought I was.”
Drake has had a long tempestuous relationship with the Grammy Awards, which have nominated him many times over his decade-long career, but rarely given him the prize.
During his acceptance speech Sunday night, Drake acknowledged that he didn’t think he was going to win anything.
He added that an artist has already won if “you have people who are singing your songs word for word” and “if you’re a hero in your hometown.”
More to come.
