Male Arrested for Bank Robberies
Region of Peel– Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested a male in relation to two bank robberies.
On Friday, October 16th, 2020, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a suspect entered a financial institution in the area of McLaughlin Road and Bovaird Drive in the City of Brampton. The suspect approached the teller and produced a handwritten note demanding money. The teller complied and turned over a quantity of Canadian Currency. The suspect exited the bank and was last seen fleeing on foot.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at 12:44 p.m., the same suspect attended a financial institution located in the area of Highway 50 and Fogal Road in the City of Brampton. The suspect attended the teller and produced a handwritten note demanding money. The teller complied and turned over a quantity of Canadian Currency. Through a detailed criminal investigation, the suspect was identified.
On October 21, 2020, at 2:13 p.m., Gaurav Jassal, a 25-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery and Wear Disguise with Intent. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Brampton for a bail hearing on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
