6, including suspect, dead in a shooting in Vaughan

A shooting at a condo tower in Vaughan, Ontario Sunday night left six, reportedly including the suspect, dead.
Police presence at a condo building in the area of Jane and Rutherford after several people were shot. Multiple victims, one male suspect. The suspect is deceased following an interaction with police. SIU will be notified. Updates to follow

York Regional Police stated that the shooting occurred in the area of Jane Street and Rutherford Road. Officers responded to a call at around 7:20 p.m. ET on Sunday. The motive of the shooting remains unclear.
Officers reportedly arrived to find many people fatally shot. The suspect was reportedly declared dead on the spot after an interaction with the police officers.
“An interaction occurred between the suspect and our officers and the suspect is now deceased,” said YRP duty inspector Const. Laura Nicolle.
Another victim is said to be severely injured and receiving medical attention but, according to York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween, is expected to survive.
“We’re in the process right now of doing notifications to those families, so at this point I can’t share any information on the victims or the subject,” MacSween said.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified of the shooting, according to Const. Laura Nicolle.
