Teenage Boy Arrested in Connection to Death of Hamilton Woman

A 16-year-old boy involved in the death of a 38-year-old woman in Hamilton in November last year has been arrested at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The teenager is the fifth person that has been arrested in this case. The reason for the murder remains unclear as it is part of the evidence.

On November 10 last year, police found the body of 38-year-old Danielle Strauss in her apartment at Ferguson Avenue in Hamilton. She had reportedly died a week before her body was found but the reason behind her death has not been shared on grounds of it being evidence. A few weeks later, a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were charged with second-degree murder. Then in December, two women in their early 40s were also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact.

Now, a fifth person, a 16-year-old boy, has been arrested at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Homicide detectives got information about the teenager traveling back to Canada from Czechia on December 31 and they arrested him on the same day. The investigators said, “Hamilton Police Service would like to thank our law enforcement partners for their assistance with this case, as it relates to the youth accused who fled to Czechia. This includes Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), RCMP Interpol services, Global Affairs Canada, and the Peel Regional Police Service..”

None of the names of the people involved in the death of Strauss can be revealed publicly as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The names of the adults are also being kept under wraps as it may lead to the identification of the minors.

Since this is an ongoing investigation, no further information can be shared. Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact Hamilton police’s homicide unit at 905-546-2288 or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
