Two Arrests Made Following an Armed Bank Robbery in Burlington

Halton Regional Police have apprehended two suspects in connection with a recent bank robbery in Burlington.

Two people have been taken behind the bars and faced with several charges following an armed bank robbery in Burlington last week.

Halton Regional Police were called to the Royal Bank at 3030 Mainway in Burlington at approximately 3:30 p.m. on March 15 following reports that two men had robbed the branch.

The reports mention that the suspects fled away from the scene but they were located by the police nearby and further states that one of the suspects was taken into custody and the other suspect in possession of a firearm was kept in the vehicle.

Police have now charged the following two men:

Michael Uzelac (37), of Welland, has been charged with the occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, armed robbery using a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Stephane Smith (54), of Niagara Falls, has been charged with the armed robbery using a firearm, utter threat to cause death or bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, pointing a firearm, firearm – use while committing an offense, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and both accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
