Bar council dissatisfied with Punjab AG dispute

The Punjab and Haryana Bar Council has also come down in about the new Advocate General, Vinod Ghai, in Punjab. The Bar Counsel has also issued a statement regarding that the way a doctor treats every patient who comes to him, the doctor does not look at anyone’s caste, religion, or character etc. Similarly, a lawyer also fights the case of every client. It should not be the profile or identity of that advocate. Bar Counsel Chairman Advocate Subir Sidhu said that state and central agencies should be strict about illegal comments on lawyers. He said that the Bar Council is taking it very seriously. It may be mentioned that the Bhagwant Mann government of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab has announced the appointment of senior advocate Vinod Ghai as Advocate General and there has been an uproar over this. Opposition parties and many other organizations say that Vinod Ghai is fighting Ram Rahim’s case in the blasphemy case. Apart from this, Vinod Ghai is fighting the case of sacked government minister Vijay Singla, former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. In such a situation, questions are raised that it is not right to make Vinod Ghai the Advocate General of Punjab.
