Brampton House Fire Kills 5 members of a Family

Peel Regional Police in Brampton has confirmed that five people, including three children, have died after a fire broke out in a house in Brampton on Monday.

Emergency forces were called to Conestoga Drive, near Sandalwood Parkway and Kennedy Road, at about 2 a.m.

Const. Heather Cannon told reporters that paramedics transported two of the children to a hospital with life-threatening conditions, and both of them died shortly after being admitted.

The two adults and the third child were already found dead inside the house.

Brampton Fire Chief Bill Boyes said the ages of the children dead is believed to be 11, eight and six. The two adults that have died in the incident are the mother and father of the children.

Neighbours and family members have now identified the names of the dead.The parents were Nazir Ali and Raven Alisha Ali O’dea and their children were Alia Marilyn Ali O’dea, Jayden Prince Ali O’dea and Layla Rose Ali O’dea.

One adult with critical injuries have been rescued from the house and was transported to a trauma centre. Two other adults were also inside the house and they managed to escape the fire without any major physical injuries.

Brampton Fire Chief Bill Boyes reminded everyone to check their fire alarms and have them working. He also residents to have working carbon monoxide detectors.

The origin and cause of the fire are yet to be determined.

Premier Doug Ford also expressed his grief over the incident at a press conference in Brampton and said “Before I begin, I want to express just how sad I was to learn of the tragic deaths of a family here in Peel, including the loss of three precious children.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was with Ford, said his thoughts were with family and friends of those who died. “We’re all thinking of those affected by this horrible, heartbreaking tragic fire,” he said.

Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown & Mayor of neighboring city Mississauga, Bonnie Crombie have also express their grief on this tragic loss of 5 lives.
