FIFA 2022 World Cup: Iran Beats Wales, Qatar Loses to Senegal, Netherlands-Ecuador Draw

Group A and Group B matches are taking place today as part of the ongoing FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Wales and Iran from Group B went head-to-head and ended their match at 0-2 in favor of Iran. Qatar and Senegal from Group A also duked it out, but Senegal secured the win with the match ending 1-3.

FIFA 2022 World Cup is going on full steam in Qatar. Group A teams including Qatar, Senegal, Netherlands, and Ecuador battled each other today. The Qatar vs Senegal match ended in 1-3 and the home team lost. Mohammed Muntari scored Qatar’s only goal while Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou, and Bamba Dieng scored for Senegal. On the other hand, Netherlands and Ecuador finished their match in a draw. Cody Gakpo scored for Netherlands while Enner Valencia scored for Ecuador.

Group B includes Wales, Iran, England, and USA. Iran secured the win over Wales with two goals. Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian were the two goal-scorers for Iran. Wayne Hennessey from Wales was given the red card for his improper challenge on Mehdi Taremi. England and USA will face each other today at 2 p.m.

The next set of Group A and Group B matches will take place on November 29. From Group A, Ecuador and Senegal will go against each other while Netherlands and Qatar will battle it out to see who moves forward. From Group B, Iran will take on USA and Wales will take on England.

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar has not been free of controversy. Recently, it was reported that Denmark could walk out of the tournament because of the way FIFA president Gianni Infantino has been handling the tournament. The latest incident that added to the frustration of European soccer teams was the ban on “One Love” armbands that some players wanted to wear to show solidarity toward the anti-discrimination campaign. The European teams and officials are at odds with FIFA president after the comments he made at the eve-of-tournament news conference, calling European society and media hypocrites.
