Indo-Canadian Community Pays Tribute at Hindu Sabha to Victims of Jammu & Kashmir Terror Attack

The Indo-Canadian community gathered at Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton for a Shanti Path and prayer ceremony, mourning the Hindu tourists killed in a recent terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir.

A solemn Shanti Path and prayer ceremony was held Friday evening at Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, as members of the Indo-Canadian community gathered to mourn and honour the memory of Hindu tourists who were brutally killed in a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, India.

The two-hour event drew a large crowd, including community leaders, spiritual figures, and elected officials. Among those in attendance were MP Maninder Sindhu and Conservative candidate Bob Dosanjh from Brampton East, who joined the community in offering prayers and condolences.

Speaking to the gathering, Akriti Sharma, an Indo-Canadian IT professional, strongly condemned the attack and emphasized the solidarity felt within the diaspora community. “Despite being away from our motherland, we stand firmly with the victims of this horrendous terrorist attack. Our hearts are heavy, and we hope the Government of India will take appropriate action to bring the perpetrators to justice,” she said.

Deep Shukla, a prominent community member and active participant in cultural events such as Ramleela, said, “We are deeply saddened and outraged by the brutal terrorist attack on innocent Hindu tourists in Pahalgam. These were peace-loving visitors who became victims of senseless violence. Our prayers are with their families. Violence against unarmed civilians has no place in any society,” he said.

Members of the prayer service highlighted the importance of standing united against hate and terrorism, calling on all communities to advocate for peace, justice, and humanity.

The evening concluded with a collective prayer for peace, as participants chanted “Om Shanti Om” and lit candles in memory of the victims, sending a strong message of resilience and hope in the face of tragedy.
