Allrounder Harmanpreet Kaur has pulled out of the Melbourne Renegades during the ongoing season of WBBL, reportedly due to a back issue.

Harmanpreet was initially scheduled to skip out on the first two games but now has pulled out completely. Eve Jones, a batter from England, was signed on as Kaur’s replacement.

Simon Helmot, the Renegades coach, was sure of Kaur joining the team and reportedly was focused on managing the star player’s workload as she reached Australia

James Rosengarten, the Melbourne Renegades’ General Manager, said on the matter,”Harmanpreet was fantastic for us last season and we were looking forward to having her as part of our squad again this year, but unfortunately she has been ruled out through injury.”

“Eve will stay on with our squad for at least the next couple of matches, as we work through the best strategy for our squad for the remainder of the tournament,” he continued.

Harmanpreet was ceremoniously regarded as the Player of the Tournament after scoring 406 runs at a strike rate of 130.96 and also taking 15 wickets in 13 games last season.

Kaur took to Twitter to express her dismay at the situation Tweeting, “Sad to miss out of the #WBBL08 this season. Will miss playing with my RED Team ❤️ Do well, @RenegadesWBBL! Love to all ❤️.”
