Mississauga man died after transport truck fell through gap in roadway
A 59-year-old man from Mississauga died late Wednesday night after a transport truck he was driving fell through a road in southwest Middlesex County, as a result of storms in the area, the Ontario Provincial Police said.
The OPP and emergency services were called to an area on Dundonald Road, 60 km southwest of London, Ont., around 10 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle collision. At the scene, a transport truck had fallen through a large gap in the roadway, the result of flash flooding due to thunderstorms that rolled through the region last night.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the police said.
In a video posted on social media platform X, OPP Constable Jeff Hare said that unprecedented storms had caused the flooding and other shutdowns were being placed in the area as roads were being washed out.

Police said it will be several weeks before repairs can be made to a two-kilometre stretch of roadway between Buttonwood Drive and Carolinian Drive.
