Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued in Parts of Southern Ontario

The thunderstorm is expected this afternoon across areas including Peterborough, Niagara, Bancroft, and York regions.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Southern Ontario on Monday. Strong winds up to 90 kmph and large hails of up to three cm in diameter are expected to hit some parts of the region today.

The thunderstorm is expected this afternoon across areas including Peterborough, Niagara, Bancroft, and York regions.

The weather advisory reads, “Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”

Residents are being advised to take shelter as hails of this size can cause injury and damage.
