Shooting in Etobicoke Leaves One Dead

At around 8:30 a.m., shots were fired at Mimico Waterfront Park in the area of Mimico Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West and the paramedics and Toronto police were called.

On Thursday evening, a shooting took place at a park in Mimico which left one person dead and the other one in critical condition.

At around 8:30 a.m., shots were fired at Mimico Waterfront Park in the area of Mimico Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West and the paramedics and Toronto police were called.

As per the police, reports of a fight between a group of men were also reported in the park, and a firearm was seen as well.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police located two men who were in their early 20s, and both were seriously injured. One out of the two sustained gunshot wounds in his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the second victim was immediately rushed to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

No information about the possible suspects has yet been released.

Duty Insp. Saleem Husain said, “We’ve had our K-9 and ETF search the park for any suspects. And we’ve canvassed the area and have a large part of this park held off at this point as a scene for this shooting.”

He further added, “We are early in the investigation and really have no indication as to how many suspects are involved.”
