Much to the dismay of cricket fans hopeful for an India v/s Pakistan final, the Jos Buttler-led England team wiped the men in blue at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team topped the Super 12 Group 2 table with four wins in five games, their only loss coming against South Africa at Perth.
The English Openers Jos Buttler (80) and Alex Hales (86) showed the most exemplary partnership in the match.
The Indian team presented the English with a target of 168/6, which they had no difficulty chasing. Despite the loss, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya scored well for the team racking up a 40-ball-50 and a 33-ball-63 respectively.
Jos Buttler and Alex Hales singlehandedly achieved the target giving the Indian Bowlers a run for their money. While the Indian Bowlers all went back to the pavilion wicketless, England’s Chris Jordan showed fierce form with a 3 for 43.
After an absolutely dominating win, England is all set to play Pakistan in the Finals in Melbourne.
