GTA is under winter weather alert after the forecast of 8cm wet snow today. The snow will be falling heavily, and some slick conditions are likely by later in the evening. If you have already switched out for summer tires, it might be best to avoid travel altogether later today.

There is a forecast of anywhere from 2 to 4 cm of “slush” near Lake Ontario, with amounts possibly reaching 10 cm over higher terrain north of Highway 401.

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory stretching from Windsor in the west, north to Grey-Bruce County, and as far east as Orangeville.

The heaviest of the snow will fall Monday night into Tuesday morning with the possibility of 15 cm over higher terrain areas.

Flurries and gusty winds are expected through Tuesday which will then lead to periods of low visibility and changing conditions and light snow across southern Ontario should decrease through the Wednesday morning.
