Women Set on Fire at Toronto Transit Station

A male poured a liquid substance on a female and further ignited her.

A female victim was set on fire at the Toronto Transit Station on Friday Afternoon.

As per the investigators, a male poured a liquid substance on a female and further ignited her.

The women was helped by the TTC employees, and the citizen and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

As per the statements made by the TTC CEO Rick Leary, the attack occurred at the bus and not at the track level. During the conduct of the investigation, the service on Line 2 between Islington and Kipling Stations was suspended.

Leary said that he was shocked that the attack took place at Kipling Station. He said, “Our thoughts are with the victim for a full recovery. “I know incidents like this are concerning for customers – and I share that concern.”

He further added, “Safety is paramount to all we do and I am committed to ensuring the TTC remains as safe as possible.”

Previously in April, the police have also stated that they were increasing their visibility at the TTC, after various violent and disturbing incidents have been taking place.

Leary said that, TTC is “actively recruiting new special constables”
