Punjabi-Origin YouTuber Nancy Grewal Fatally Stabbed in LaSalle, Ontario; Police Investigating

A Windsor woman known for her outspoken presence on social media has died after a stabbing in LaSalle, Ontario, in a case police describe as an isolated incident. Authorities say Nancy Grewal, 45, suffered fatal injuries after an attack Tuesday night in a residential neighbourhood, leaving the local community shaken.

Officers with the LaSalle Police Service responded to reports of a stabbing shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Todd Lane. When emergency crews arrived, they found Grewal suffering from severe stab wounds. Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services transported her to hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Investigators spent much of Wednesday examining the area where the attack occurred. Police cordoned off two homes on Todd Lane between Canada Street and Bishop Street while officers collected evidence. Authorities placed several evidence markers along a concrete walkway and on stairs leading to the front entrance of one residence.

Investigators also secured a wooded area about one kilometre away along Todd Lane near the walking trails by Herb Gray Parkway as part of the ongoing search for evidence linked to the case.

Police have not confirmed whether a suspect has been taken into custody.

Grewal, a Punjabi origin YouTuber from Windsor, had built an online following where she frequently shared strong opinions on political and social issues. She spoke openly about tensions between India and Canada and posted commentary critical of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, separatist groups, and several religious and political figures in Punjab.

In a message posted on social media Wednesday evening, the LaSalle Police Service extended condolences to Grewal’s loved ones while reassuring residents about public safety.

“The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal,” the statement read. “To ease public concern, investigators are viewing this as an isolated incident.”

Police continue to gather evidence as the investigation moves forward, and officials have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact authorities.
