RCMP Officer Charged Over Alleged Online Threats Toward Donald Trump

A Quebec-based RCMP officer has been charged after allegedly making online threats toward U.S. President Donald Trump while assigned to security operations for the 2025 G7 summit in Alberta.

The RCMP said 34-year-old Evenson Dumerlus of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., allegedly posted a video on his Snapchat account “in which he made threatening comments” toward the president. The alleged incident took place during the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alta., held from June 15 to 17, 2025, while Trump was in attendance.

According to the Mounties, another officer reported the video, prompting the RCMP’s Special Investigations Unit to take over the case. Dumerlus has since been removed from his duties.

He now faces one count of uttering threats and is scheduled to appear at the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse on July 30.

RCMP Urges Public To Report Threats

“The RCMP takes seriously any threats that can affect one’s sense of security,” the force said in a news release issued Wednesday.

“Violent statements will not be tolerated. Perpetrators may face criminal charges involving significant sentences. Such incidents must be reported if we are to combat this type of crime.”

The RCMP is asking the public to report similar activity by calling 514-939-8300, 1-800-771-5401, the National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805, or their local police department.
