Serial arsonist suspected after vehicles were set on fire in three separate incidents in Richmond Hill

York Regional Police issued a warning to the public on Thursday after vehicles were set on fire in three separate incidents in Richmond Hill, with the latest being reported on August 17.

The first incident happened on June 10, around 1 a.m. while three people were asleep at their residence when one of them heard noises, and saw her vehicle engulfed in flames in the driveway, the police said in a news release.

In a similar incident, residents of a house on Berwick Crescent saw their vehicle on fire in the driveway around midnight on June 28. A lone male suspect was seen near the vehicle at the time of the incident, according to the release.

The latest incident on Thursday occurred on Berwick Crescent as well, around 2 a.m. when someone reported that their neighbour’s car was on fire. Video surveillance from this incident was available, and showed a male suspect pouring liquid over the vehicle before setting it alight and running away.

While the investigation is ongoing, police says the suspect is a medium-built, tall man with possible burn injuries to hands or face.
