Twitter shuts down offices in Delhi, Mumbai

by The Canadian Parvasi

Social Media giant Twitter has reportedly shut down its offices in Delhi and Mumbai. The social-networking platform’s Bengaluru office, from where most of the firm’s engineering talent operates, is still working, according to media reports.

The office locations shutdown comes as owner Elon Musk continues to take cost-cutting measures for the social-networking platform. Soon after Musk took charge of the operations late last year, Twitter fired over 90% of its more than 200 people staff in India.

Media reports suggest that in order to get the site financially stable by late 2023, Musk has been conducting layoffs and shutting down branches of Twitter all across the world. The workforce for the social-media platform has reportedly downsized from 7,000 to 2,300 active employees across the world, with many high-level staff like CEO Parag Agrawal also being fired.

The affected staff in India, the number of which could not be immediately ascertained, have been told to work from home, media outlets reported.
