The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced two major cocaine seizures at the Blue Water Bridge port of entry that resulted in the arrest of two Ontario men and charges by the RCMP.
On August 13, 2025, CBSA officers referred a commercial truck arriving from the United States for a secondary inspection. During the search, officers uncovered six boxes containing 150 kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden inside the trailer. The narcotics had an estimated street value of $18.8 million. Gurjeet Singh, 28, of Brampton, Ontario, was arrested and handed over to the RCMP along with the seized drugs.
A day later, on August 14, 2025, another tractor-trailer was referred for further inspection at the same border crossing. Officers discovered 199 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed within the commercial load. The seizure carried an estimated value of $24.9 million. CBSA arrested Abdikadir Egal, 38, of Etobicoke, Ontario, and transferred him and the narcotics to RCMP custody.
In total, 349 kilograms of suspected cocaine were seized over the two days, with an estimated street value of $43.7 million.
The RCMP has charged both Singh and Egal with Importation of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both cases are before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia. The charges remain subject to validation by the court, and investigations are ongoing.
