The Cashmere Collection returned for its 22nd year with a runway show that combined artistry, compassion, and a powerful message of hope in support of breast cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment programs.
Held on September 16 at Toronto’s historic Evergreen Brick Works, the event celebrated this year’s theme, “Tapestry of the North,” highlighting Canada’s cultural diversity and regional identity. Sixteen designers from across the country, including Adam X, Angie Larocque, Antoninette Di Carlo, Bahar Kianpour, Chavah Lindsay, Heather Bouchier, Helmer Joseph, Maria Wozniak, Matthew Gallagher, Michael Jafine, Rodney Philpott, Sebastian Guarian, Shaun Mascarenhas, Shauna Griffiths, Steven Lejambe, and Zoba Martin, unveiled garments made entirely from Cashmere UltraLuxe Bathroom Tissue.
Hosted by Etalk’s Lainey Lui, the evening brought together fashion, philanthropy, and star power. Canadian R&B artist Jully Black delivered a moving performance, sharing her personal ties to breast cancer. Quebec actress Rosalie Bonenfant added her voice to the campaign, while NHL first overall draft pick Matthew Schaefer honoured his late mother in a video tribute. Sports icons Doug Gilmour, Natalie Spooner, and Tessa Virtue also lent support.
Susan Irving, CMO of Kruger Products, called the initiative a celebration of “the softness and strength of our Canadian spirit.” Since 2004, the collection has raised over $5 million for the Canadian Cancer Society and Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.
Canadians are invited to vote for their favourite runway design at www.CashmereCollection.ca until October 31, with each vote generating a $1 donation, up to $100,000. The winning design will be revealed on November 4. Supporters can also contribute by purchasing pink ribbon Cashmere and Purex Bathroom Tissue, with $1 from each package going to the cause.
