Surrey police are investigating a second shooting at a home owned by Cricket Canada president Arvinder Khosa, after gunfire was reported early Thursday morning in the city’s South Newton neighbourhood.
The Surrey Police Service said frontline officers were called to the area of 57 Avenue and 148 Street just after 4 a.m. PT on Thursday following reports of shots fired. Police said the home was occupied when the shooting took place, but no injuries were reported.
Investigators believe the latest shooting is connected to an extortion case involving earlier threats and a previous shots-fired incident outside the same residence on May 20.
“The investigation is in its early stages; however, it is believed to be extortion related due to previous threats and a shots fired incident outside the residence on May 20, 2026,” police said in a release.
The Surrey Police Service’s extortion response team has now taken over the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information, including CCTV video, dashcam footage, or details about the suspects, to contact investigators.
The Thursday morning shooting marks the second time in just over two weeks that Khosa’s Surrey home has been targeted. The earlier incident on May 20 also involved gunfire outside the residence.
No arrests have been announced in connection with the latest shooting. Police have not released suspect descriptions.
The shooting comes as Cricket Canada faces intense public attention following a fifth estate investigation published in April. The investigation reported broader allegations involving corruption, organized crime influence, and attempts by major figures connected to Cricket Canada to fix parts of matches. Those accused have denied the allegations.
The report also said Khosa, who has continued as president of Cricket B.C., was connected to local players who claimed links to the Bishnoi gang and allegedly threatened a national men’s player in 2025. Khosa previously denied those allegations.
Police have not announced any direct link between the shooting investigation and the allegations raised in the fifth estate report.
The investigation remains active. Surrey police are urging residents and businesses in the area to review video from early Thursday morning as officers work to identify the people responsible.
