BJP Leads in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Congress gains in Telangana and Chhattisgarh, others miles away

Chandigarh: EVM counting is underway and BJP has crossed the majority mark of 116 In Madhya Pradesh. BJP Leads in Rajsthan with 102 seats.

The Congress, which is in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, and the BJP, which is ruling Madhya Pradesh, are locked in a straight fight in these three states, while K Chandrashekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is hoping for a hat-trick in Telangana.

Counting of votes began at 8 am on Sunday for the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana elections.

BJP has crossed the majority mark of 116, while Congress is in second spot as per early leads. BJP leader and MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Congress leader and former CM Kamal Nath are trailing from their constituencies, Budhni and Chhindwara, respectively. Counting of votes for the MP chunav began at 8 am, putting the BJP ahead of Congress in very early postal ballot leads, which the Saffron party is still maintaining in EVM counting. The 2018 MP election results led to a hung assembly in which Congress emerged as the largest party with 114 seats, but failed to cross majority mark.

In a mixed bag for the Congress, the early trends show BJP Lead in Rajasthan. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot leading from his constituency Sardarpura, while former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot is trailing in Tonk. The counting of votes for the Rajasthan Election Results 2023 started at 8am, with early trends showing the BJP sweeping past the half-way mark.

Among the other names leading are BJP’s Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Diya Kumari. The desert state recorded a 75.45 per cent voter turnout on November 25, higher than the 74.71 per cent in 2018. There were a total of 1,862 candidates in the the state.
