Halton police are investigating an anonymous bomb threat sent Thursday morning to both the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board, naming nine schools in Oakville as possible targets.
Police said no hold-and-secure order has been issued at any of the affected schools. Classes are continuing as normal, though officers have increased their presence at each location while searches of school properties take place.
Schools Named in Halton Bomb Threat
The threat referenced Oakville Trafalgar High School, Iroquois Ridge High School, Abbey Park High School, White Oaks Secondary School, Garth Webb Secondary School, Appleby College, Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, Loyola Catholic Secondary School and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.
Halton Regional Police said the added police presence is a precaution as officers assess the situation and search the campuses.
Police Investigating Source and Credibility
Investigators said the threat was anonymous. Officers from multiple police units are working to determine where it came from and whether it is credible.
Police are asking anyone with information about the threat to contact investigators immediately.
