Calgary police have released photos of more than a dozen suspects as investigators seek public assistance in an ongoing extortion probe linked to members of the city’s South Asian community.
Police say Calgary has recorded 49 extortion-related incidents since April 2025, including 19 cases involving shootings. The investigation has already led to 16 people facing a combined 56 charges. Police also confirmed none of the accused are Canadian citizens.
Police identified the suspects as Ravjot Toor, 20; Germanjeet Singh, 22, also known as Germanjit Singh, German Singh, Garry Singh and Gary Singh; Jaskaran Singh, 21, also known as Jassi Buttar; Karanbir Singh, 21, also known as Karan Singh; Amandeep Singh, 21, also known as Shiva Singh; Anurag Sidhu, 21, also known as Anurag Singh Sidhu; Ishandeep Singh, 19; Amandeep Mallhi, 39; Sandeep Singh, 32, also known as Harman Gill; Daksh Gautam, 25; Akashdeep Singh, 19; Gagandeep Singh, 29, also known as Gagi Singh and “Guggi”; Pardeep Singh, 24; Taranveer Singh, 24; and Gurkaran Dhaliwal, 21. Germanjeet Singh remains wanted on warrants in connection with a March 2026 shooting, while the others face charges tied to shootings, attempted extortion, arson, a planned kidnapping, firearms offences, forcible confinement, assault and possession of proceeds of crime.
Investigators said the release of the photos aims to generate new leads from community members who may recognize the individuals or have information about their movements, associates or alleged activities.
“We hope that by releasing these photos, community members can provide additional information to help advance our investigations,” said Supt. Jeff Bell of the CPS criminal operations and intelligence division.
Bell said public co-operation has played a key role in the investigation so far. Police have been working under Operation Orion and Operation Outage, which focus on both investigative efforts and suppression activity tied to the extortion cases.
Police said the photos, along with more details about the suspects and the charges they face, have been posted on the Calgary police website. Investigators added that some of the people shown may use different names in the community and may have interacted with members of the public in different settings.
Bell said police are also examining whether any of the Calgary incidents have links to the Bishnoi Gang, an India-based criminal organization with operatives in Canada. The Canadian government has designated the group as a terrorist organization.
“I’m closely monitoring what’s happening in other parts of the country. I’m watching what’s happened, obviously, in Vancouver with our recent trial where there is a linkage with allegation of connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and so we are alive to that,” said Bell.
“If we come across any evidence to suggest that, we’ll be working with our national security partners as they are considered a terrorist organization.”
Police Looking For Wanted Man, Other Suspects
As part of the same investigation, police are asking for help locating Germanjeet Singh, who is wanted on warrants connected to an extortion incident.
Investigators are also working to identify suspects in two separate extortion events reported in the Calgary communities of Cityscape and Saddle Ridge.
Police are urging anyone with information about alleged extortion activity, the individuals shown in the released photos, or their associates to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234.
