Kentucky, U.S., resident James Shannon Farthing, 50, claimed a historic $167.3 million Powerball jackpot, the largest ever in state history, on April 28 alongside his mother, Linda Grizzle. The pair opted to split the prize, offering hope of financial relief and a fresh start.
Just days later, Farthing was arrested in St. Pete Beach, Florida, following a physical incident at the TradeWinds Resort’s Island Grand Bar. Body-worn camera video shows him allegedly punching another guest, then kicking a Pinellas County sheriff’s deputy in the face as officers intervened. The deputy suffered visible swelling and redness under his eye.
