Teenager from Punjab Fatally Shoots Himself on Accident While Taking a Selfie

A 17-year-old boy from Moga, Punjab, accidentally shot himself dead while trying to take a selfie with a gun. The licensed gun belonged to the boy’s father who thought his son was cleaning the gun but preliminary investigation revealed he was trying to take a selfie.

The incident took place in Bajeke village of Moga district on Wednesday. According to reports, Gurbinder Singh, a 17-year-old class 12 student was trying to take a selfie posing with a revolver but he accidentally shot himself in the head and collapsed in a pool of his blood. His parents rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead.

The licensed gun belonged to his father Sukhwinder Singh who thought his son was cleaning the revolver. However, preliminary findings showed that Gurbinder put his finger on the trigger of the loaded gun as he was taking a selfie and accidentally discharged the weapon. The bullet went through his head.

The accidental death left the family in shock. Dharamkot SHO Jaswinder Singh said, “We took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination at the district hospital, after which, it was handed over to the family members for cremation.”
