Watch: Building collapses after fire in Delhi, firefighters escape narrowly

After catching fire, a multi-story building in north Delhi collapsed on Wednesday, after which about 100 firemen managed to escape narrowly, three of which are said to be injured. The four-story building on Roshnara Road close to Pul Bangash metro station abruptly collapsed as responders on the scene tried to put out the fire.

According to Delhi Fire Service officials, all of the firefighters who were putting out the fire had a very narrow escape, and three of them had only minor wounds.

“The fire was brought under control after over four-and-a-half hours of the incident but cooling operations will continue till Thursday morning,” Director Atul Garg of Delhi Fire Service stated.

The three injured fire service personnel were rushed to receive medical attention soon after the collapse and have since been discharged, according to media outlets.

Visuals, supposedly of the incident, have since been circulated many times across social media and show the building being reduced to rubble while firefighting efforts were underway on the site of the fire.

The aforementioned 4-story building housed the headquarters of a private transport and logistics company, which had multiple offices and a godown in which goods were stocked up, according to the police.

The fire reportedly did not spread, however, media reports suggest that at least three nearby structures experienced cracking.

Almost 100 firefighters had been deployed for the firefighting efforts, and 18 fire trucks were dispatched soon after receiving news of the fire at around 11:50 am, according to media outlets.
