A drug trafficking investigation known as “Project Aries” resulted in the arrest of two Richmond Hill residents and the seizure of about $9 million worth of cocaine by York Regional Police (YRP).

The investigation was launched when authorities learnt that two suspects were allegedly in possession of huge amounts of cocaine.

The two suspects were detained in January after search warrants were carried out at a Richmond Hill house and a storage facility in Vaughan.

Cocaine worth $8.9 million, $260,000 in cash, and $100,000 in designer apparel were all recovered by police.

On Thursday, YRP posted a video of the confiscated goods, which featured stacks of $50 and $100 cash as well as numerous packets of cocaine.

The charges against Alisha Kokko, 30, and William Phung, 39, include possession with intent to distribute and possession of criminal proceeds.

Police said Project Aries is still active and are requesting that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers or the York Regional Police Major Projects Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6970.
