Toronto police are investigating a homicide after a fatal shooting in northwest Toronto.
Police responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of Woodbine Shopping Centre near Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27 at about 3:31 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Officers found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Doctors later pronounced the victim dead at hospital.
Police identified the victim as Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar, 37, of Brampton.
The shooting occurred in a busy commercial area during the afternoon. Police have not released details on suspects, possible motives, or arrests. Investigators remained at the scene for several hours while forensic teams examined the parking lot and collected evidence.
The homicide marks the third killing in Toronto in 2026.
Toronto Police Service homicide investigators are asking witnesses to come forward. Police urge anyone who saw the shooting or who has video footage from the area, including dashcam or security recordings, to contact investigators.
