Residents across the Greater Toronto Area should prepare for unsettled weather Tuesday, with thunderstorms, showers and gusty winds expected through parts of the day.
Environment Canada forecasts a few showers Tuesday morning, followed by mainly cloudy conditions and a 40 per cent chance of additional showers. Another round of rain is expected during the afternoon, bringing a risk of thunderstorms across Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and surrounding communities.
Local rainfall amounts between 10 and 15 millimetres are possible. Southwest winds are expected to reach 20 km/h, with gusts near 40 km/h during the morning.
The temperature will climb to 27 C, though humid conditions will make it feel closer to 35. Hazy skies are also expected through the morning and early afternoon. The UV index will reach seven, considered high.
The risk of thunderstorms will continue into early Tuesday evening. Winds will shift to the northwest at 20 km/h, with gusts reaching 40 km/h. The overnight low will fall to 16 C.
Cooler, Windy Weather Arrives Wednesday
Wednesday will bring cooler conditions across the GTA. Toronto will see mainly cloudy skies, while cloudy conditions are forecast for Mississauga and Brampton.
Northwest winds will increase to 30 km/h, with gusts reaching 50 km/h. The daytime high will reach 22 C. Skies are expected to clear Wednesday night.
Environment Canada had no weather alerts in effect for Mississauga and Brampton as of 7:52 a.m. Tuesday. Residents should continue checking updated forecasts because thunderstorm conditions often change quickly.
Sunny and warmer weather is expected to return Thursday, followed by a high near 28 C Friday.
