A quiet residential street in Brampton turned into a crime scene overnight after a homeowner was shot during a suspected home invasion, Peel Regional Police say.
The incident occurred just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday near Springview Drive and Silkwood Crescent, in the area east of McLaughlin Road. Police believe two unknown suspects entered the home by breaking in through a window.
Responding officers found the male homeowner with a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to a trauma centre, where he remains in stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The suspects had fled the scene by the time police arrived. No arrests have been made, and investigators are still working to determine whether the attack was targeted or random.
