Councillor Dennis Keenan wrote in an instagram post sharing pictures of Ravjot, “I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Brampton Fire/ @iaff1068 Division Chief Ravjot Chhatwal. I knew Ravjot prior to becoming a City Councillor, because he would always come and help our neighbourhood at our community rink. We always stayed in touch and he was one of the first people to reach out to me with a big congratulations, when I was elected. I just saw him a few weeks ago when he came by city hall to hand deliver fire fighter coins to some entrepreneurial youth that were visiting our offices. He was always willing to go above and beyond, with a smile on his face. This news is truly heartbreaking. Sending my condolences to his family and friends who lost a beautiful soul, much too young.”

Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor quoted “Ravjot Paaji was a gem and one of my first friends at City Hall back in 2014. He was so proud to see me back in the building as a Councillor. A trailblazer as the first Turbaned member of the Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Ravjot leaves big shoes to fill. The tragic news of his passing is so hard to process.”

Regional Councillor Navjit Kaur Brar wrote on her instagram, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ravjot Singh Chhatwal. Ravjot was a friend to all and always willing to help others. I never saw him without a smile and without words of kindness. Brampton and BFES have suffered a great loss. We have lost a friend, an ally, a role model and a trailblazer for equity, diversity and inclusion in BFES. His cheerful nature and personable disposition will be missed by all of us at the City of Brampton. I send my deepest condolences to his family and wish them every comfort at this difficult time. We will miss you Ravjot.”
