Sikh Community Launches Toy Drive for SickKids

The Sikh community across Ontario is launching a powerful new initiative, the Sahibzaada Toy Drive, to bring joy to children at SickKids Hospital in Toronto. The province-wide campaign is collecting new, unwrapped toys, connecting the Sikh tradition of seva (selfless service) with a historical month of remembrance.

Inspired by the profound courage of the Chaar Sahibzaade, Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s four young sons, the drive seeks to honor their sacrifices during December, a month deeply significant to Sikhs. The Sahibzaade’s story is one of unwavering faith and resilience, demonstrating that conviction has no age.

“The Sahibzaada Toy Drive bridges these traditions, blending remembrance with action,” organizers stated. “It invites the community to celebrate the holidays with compassion while remembering their roots, sharing Sikh history alongside universal acts of giving.”

The collective effort is being powered by a coalition of over a dozen community partners, including Khalsa Aid Canada, Seva Food Bank, World Sikh Organization of Canada, and various Sikh Student Associations. Together, they aim to collect toys and educational gifts for children and teens undergoing difficult circumstances. Preferred donations include board games, art supplies, gift cards, and gaming consoles.

Community members are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys at participating collection sites by December 5, 2025. Larger donations can be coordinated by emailing [email protected]. This initiative not only provides comfort to hospitalized children but also amplifies the enduring lessons of the Sahibzaade: that strength and compassion walk hand in hand.
