A woman has died following a violent incident at a Brampton apartment complex, with police taking one man into custody as investigations continue.
Peel Regional Police responded to a call for a “disturbance” at an apartment building on Kennedy Road South, just north of Steeles Avenue, around 8:40 a.m. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a woman suffering from a severe penetrating trauma, according to Peel Regional Paramedic Services.
The victim was rushed to a local trauma centre in critical condition but was later pronounced dead, police confirmed at the scene. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect, but both are believed to be between 30 and 40 years old.
A male suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. No other injuries have been reported. However, according to a CP24 report, a child was present in the unit at the time of the fatal incident.
A heavy police presence remains in the area as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the vicinity while the investigation is underway.
