A 23-year-old woman has been charged after Peel Regional Police found a newborn deceased inside a Brampton home Sunday night, in a case investigators described as deeply disturbing.
Police said officers responded to a residence near Kennedy Road North and Williams Parkway shortly before 8:30 p.m. after receiving a report about a deceased infant inside the home. In a post on X, Peel police said the call came in at 8:23 p.m. and confirmed an infant had been found deceased.</

Acting Inspector Matthew Miller told reporters the child was located inside the residence shortly after officers arrived. He said a 23-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and charged with concealing the body of a child after birth.
Miller said the woman was taken to receive medical attention after her arrest.
“Investigators continue to appeal to members of the Region of Peel who may have information,” he said.
Police said the investigation remains in its early stages, with the scene being held for further examination by investigators.
“Incidents of this nature are deeply disturbing. The officers involved are also being provided with appropriate mental support as they continue to process the impact of this call.”
